ALONE

I sit in the park,

I see a father and his daughter.

“Daddy play with me!”

The small girl shouts.

But the father can’t hear her,

He’s too busy drinking.

I stand in the doorway,

I see a father and his daughter.

“How was your day, daddy?” she asks.

But the father can’t hear her.

He’s too busy drinking.

I sit in the audience,

I see a girl of 25,

In her white gown.

But her father is nowhere to be seen,

He’s too busy drinking.

I lay on the couch,

I see a woman of 28,

A small baby in her arms.

But Grandpa is nowhere around,

Grandpa died from alcohol abuse.
