Do
You Feel Like Quitting?
Are you having trouble accomplishing a dream? Are you ready to call it quits and forget the whole thing?
We all reach a point where things just don’t seem to be working out the way we planned. We begin to feel discouraged and depressed about the situation and decide ‘what the hell, this isn’t going to work, I may as well quit and try something else’. Thomas Edison once said ‘Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.’ How close are you? You probably have no idea. The solution (success) could be just hours or days away. You just don’t know! If you quit, you will never know. You will never know.

How
many a man has thrown up his hands |
Michael Waltrip, a stock car
driver in the NASCAR Winston Cup series, started 462 races before he finally won
a race. And it was not just any
race, it was the ‘Daytona 500’, the most prestigious event in the stock car
racing series. While celebrating in
Victory Lane, he said ‘I never quit. You
can’t win if you quit!’
‘You can’t win if you
quit’!
Napolean Hill said ‘Before success in any man's life he is sure to meet with much temporary defeat and, perhaps, some failure. When defeat overtakes a man, the easiest and most logical thing to do is to quit. That is exactly what the majority of men do.’ Is there any comfort in knowing that if you quit you will be in the majority? Is that good enough?

The
man who goes farthest |
Johnny Oates, Manager of the Texas Rangers Major League baseball team, speaking to a chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes which is made up of high school kids, spoke on 'CPR'. He told the kids to be:
- Consistent with your effort,
- Persistent with your effort
and
- Resistant to wanting to quit.
Before you quit, do a
reality check:
Why did you start this
effort?
What has kept you going up to now?
What do you need in order to keep going?
If you quit now, what will you lose?
Think
about the answers to the above questions, you may be able to re-ignite your
desire to keep moving forward.
