How Are You Doing?

You meet an old friend on the street that you haven’t seen in a few years and she says ‘How are you doing’?  Like most of us, you respond with an appropriate ‘I’m doing fine’.

But how are you really doing?
Have you asked yourself that same question – ‘How am I doing?’

Are you working towards your goals, your life dreams, or are you mired in the ‘daily drama of life’.  Is it taking every once of energy to just get through the day, never mind tomorrow or next year?

I don't wait for moods.
You accomplish nothing if you do that.
Your mind must know it has to get down to work.
- Buck, Pearl

You tell yourself that as soon as things slow down, I am going to take that night class, or I am going on a diet, or I am going to quit smoking.  Charles Buxton said ‘You will never find time for anything.  You must make it’.  Life is NEVER going to slow down, get easier, or less complicated.  You must take control.

Alfred Montapert said ‘do not confuse motion and progress.  A rocking horse keeps moving but does not make any progress’.  Just because you are frantic, busy, and out of breath does not mean you making progress.  If someone asks ‘How are you doing?’ and you respond ‘Same old stuff – different day’, you are not making progress.

When you start to doubt yourself,
the real world will eat you alive!
-Henry Rollins

Denis Waitley says ‘Everything is something I decide to do, and there is nothing I have to do’.  Have you decided what you are going to do?  Take an inventory of your life’s dreams and challenges and decide which ones you are going attack.  You can’t do everything at one time, so prioritize them in the sequence that makes sense to you.

Just take control!
It’s your only option.

- Joe Freeman

3 Rules of Work
1. Out of clutter, find simplicity.
2. From discord find harmony.
3. In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity.
- Albert Einstein
