What Did You Say?

The last time you made a mistake, an error in judgment, what did you say to yourself?  Did you say something like:

You idiot!

You can't do anything right!

Or – something worse.

It's called self-talk:  the things you say to yourself – about yourself!  Marshall Sylver calls it ‘psycho-babble’.

It is often said that we are our own worst critics.   But we can take that too far.  Constantly beating yourself up for past mistakes will only reinforce this image in your subconscious, making it more difficult to break this cycle of negative thinking.

How do you stop ‘psycho-babble'?

The Silva Mind Control method advises us to say 'Cancel - Cancel’ anytime you catch yourself thinking negatively or talking to yourself negatively.

Brian Tracy says that the mind can only process one thought at a time.  He advises that by using the ‘Law of Substitution’, you can replace negative thoughts with positive thoughts.  When you catch yourself thinking negatively, force yourself to change the thought pattern to something positive.

If you don't like something,
change it.
If you can't change it,
change the way you think about it.

Is it easy?  No.  Is it worth a try?  You have to make that decision.

Do yourself a favor – fill your mind and your life with positive images!

- Joe Freeman

Difficulties seldom defeat people,
lack of faith in themselves usually does it.
