What
Do You Think?
Dr. Frank Crane said ‘Our best friends and our worst enemies are our own thoughts. A thought can do more good than a doctor or a banker or a faithful friend. It can also do more harm than a brick’. What do you think about all day? Do think about your past failures and think ‘if only I had done this’ or ‘if only I had done that’?
|
Do
not frame your failures |
If you spend a great deal of time focusing on the bad things in your life, wishing things were different, when will you have time to make any changes? Yes – you must review what went wrong so that you can change the behavior or attitudes that contributed to that problem. But if you are thinking anything else, you are just day dreaming and making yourself feel worse.
|
Such
as are your habitual thoughts, |
William James said ‘The greatest
discovery of my generation is that man can alter his life simply by altering his
attitude of mind’. This means
that in order to change your life for the better, you need change the attitude
of your mind. When you change the
attitude of your mind, you start to focus on the positives in your life.
You begin looking for ways to improve your life and prevent some of the
problems that you have been experiencing. But
you can’t change anything if you are focused on the past.
Alter your ‘attitude of mind’ and
then you can focus on changing your life.
